In the 1800's Fort Gibson was established with countless notable activities in what is now Muskogee and Cherokee Counties,
The first telephone line in OK ran past Bailey Ranch between Fort Gibson and Tahlequah. Along the banks of the ranch bayou were Indian skirmishes, land grabs, cavalry chases, stage coach runs while surrounded by a vast Indian Territory full of steam ships, paddle boats, settlers and a plethora of famous outlaws.
Bailey Ranch is part of the Oklahoma Centennial Farms and today is still an ongoing operation with interests in agriculture..
